Applewood Meadows  is a subdivision of homes in Oakland Township, Michigan offering an assortment of beautiful styles and varying sizes to choose from. 

Charter Township of Oakland is a charter township in the northeastern portion of Oakland County, in the outskirts of Metro Detroit, in the State of Michigan. Oakland Township is less densely populated than neighboring townships to the west, south, and east; and retains many elements of a rural, wooded residential bedroom community. Local ordinances and zoning laws are aimed at limiting commercial and industrial development while maintaining a cap on population density by way of a master plan.

Oakland Township has the distinction of being one of Michigan's oldest townships. It was one of the original 25 townships in the Territory of Michigan when counties were further divided into townships in 1827. The Township is a complete 36 square miles. A grist mill and mill race was built on Paint Creek in 1835. Later named Goodison Mill, it operated for more than 100 years before being dismantled in the late 1940s. The former site of the mill is the current location of Paint Creek Cider Mill, which is home to the Oakland Township Parks and Recreation, among other offices and a year round Cider Mill/Restaurant.

Currently the Township is served by three school districts: Rochester Community Schools, Lake Orion Community Schools, and Romeo Community Schools. There are also three private schools: Eagle Creek Academy, Premier Academy, and Alpine Academy.  

The neighboring communities include: Oxford Township, Addison Township, Orion Township, Auburn Hills, Rochester, Rochester Hills, and in Macomb County Bruce Township, Washington Township, and Shelby Township.

We had the opportunity to talk with residents of Applewood Meadows, Marietta and Paul Ferguson, who are currently preparing to sell their property on Sandalwood Court. We took this opportunity to get the real inside scoop from a resident on why someone searching for their forever home may want to choose Applewood Meadows and Oakland Township.

When asked what they loved about their surrounding community, here is what they had to say. “There are lots of restaurants, shopping, parks, cider mills, events,” Marietta states, “ this is also in the top 10 safest communities and is an upscale area.” Paul adds “This is a quiet subdivision, with a pond, gazebo, and new playground.” They continue, “ It feels like you’re away from the city yet everything is minutes away.”

Their favorite activities to do in the area are biking on the Paint Creek Trail, going to the downtown Rochester Farmers Market and Festivals, the local cider mills, parks, lakes.
