    • Tappan Middle School for Grades 6-8. The teachers help students to set and then meet challenging goals each year. The garden acts as an additional learning space and as a source of fresh food. The Music Department boasts the only Music Technology Lab in Ann Arbor and several bands, orchestras and choirs ensure that about three-quarter of all the students participate in at least one musical activity.
    • Pioneer High School for Grade 9-12. In 2014, US News and World Report ranked this high school as 11th best in the state and 549th best in the nation. Among its perks are a music program that has won the Grammy Award six timed, a commitment to continuous improvement through the AdvancEd Standard for Quality Schools, and the oldest public school planetariums in continuous operation in the county.

    Briar Hill is just a short drive away from the 120 shops and services of Briarwood Mall. If you prefer a small-town shopping experience, downtown Saline is also nearby with century-old and retro-style buildings. Golfers can improve their skills at the University of Michigan Golf Course, the Lake Forest Golf Club and Practice Center, and the Georgetown Country Club. If you love parks, you can choose from about a dozen facilities such as Cranbrook Park. On its 16 acres of grounds, the recreational facility includes picnic tables, open fields, a wheelchair accessible walking/bicycle trail, a nature area and a half-basketball court.
